So it converts it to 3D but doesn't even give you a real render or wheels or windows . . . .lameo
Cool paints schemes you guys made but I give EA a big FAIL on the 3D renderer /aughing-smile/

its used to see if your lines match up or to see how well it looks etc etc.....
not to render.
Realism 08 - May 23, 2008 05:49 PM (GMT)
oh, so they have a renderer. I hear it's $80 . . . .that's a rip off lol /aughing-smile/ That means the renderer costs more than the game . . .

honestly this suprises me coming form you, you arent the kind of person to bash anything TBH....
RacerDude - May 23, 2008 06:29 PM (GMT)
thats pathetic for a renderer to cost 80 dollars when the game cost 60. and i bet it sucks to.

I'm not bashing . . .I'm just saying $80 is a lot for just a rendering program when the game you race on costs less . . . .
btw, this is EA we are talking about here . . . . I'm not really thier #1 fan (Read my sig) lol

Has there even been a official announcement about it? Or did you just "hear" it? Alot of people at the EA boards like to talk sh*t if you just heard it so..

No someone has showed me the method of getting thier cars to the renderer. Apparently the files need to be .dds and very few ppl can convert a file to .dds
hamma77 - May 23, 2008 07:58 PM (GMT)
dds is easy to convert, u can get free dds converters lots of places.

True
hamma77 - May 23, 2008 08:04 PM (GMT)
asr, rfactor, probably all new racing games use dds. it's not to bad, takes 3 seconds to convert. i think photoshop can even save as dds right in the program
Jake Bustos - May 23, 2008 08:35 PM (GMT)
dude howd u get the .obj files?

Well with EA and the NASCAR 09 car customization program all you do is paint your template, use AC3D to apply the template to the car, and then (once the game comes out) you upload it to EA who adds the wheels and stuff and puts it in your "locker" for you to download for free to your console. You don't need your own render program as I understand it.
Connor Mackenzie - May 23, 2008 10:37 PM (GMT)
Either way, EA major failure.

I would not say total failure. I think it's nice they FINALLY are allowing custom schemes . . .. but thier method is still not the fastest or easiest way for people either . . . . especaily all the people who do not have the skills to paint cars . . .that must suck for them . . .
gordogg24p - May 23, 2008 11:01 PM (GMT)
How would you want to get schemes you paint onto your console for playing NASCAR 09 with? I honestly can't think of a better, more practical way of getting paint scheme to console.

***THESE ARE THE DIRECTIONS FOR FINDING THE .OBJ FILE ON THE 09 WEBSITE WHEN USING FIREFOX, NOT INTERNET EXPLORER***
The .obj file? That was "hidden" deep in the paint booth insides. You go to the 09 website. Go to Paint Booth. Click the tutorial button on the bottom of the new window. Start the tutorial. Then, right click on that same tutorial button and select play. Right click and select play again. You should be on a screen saying something along the lines of "Congratulations. Your car has been uploaded to your locker" or something like that. In the smaller text should be links to start the download of the .obj file and the AC3D program. You should be set. With Internet Explorer I have heard that to get to the file you do the same thing, but instead of selecting play after right clicking you select forward. Don't take my word for it, that's just what I've heard. Safe bet is to get Firefox if you haven't already.
